Joao Rocha is a strategic and technically accomplished asset management leader with over 15 years’ experience shaping engineering strategy, technical governance and innovation across the rail sector. Since joining East West Rail Company in 2022 as Head of Asset Management & Maintenance, he has played a key role in shaping asset management strategy to support the delivery of one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure programmes. Holding a PhD in Civil Engineering, Joao began his career in academia before moving into the rail sector. Prior to East West Rail, he held several positions in Network Rail, including managing structures assets in the Southern Region and leading the Asset Management team at Network Rail High Speed.
